Our life in a POD

cc
cc
This morning POD #1 left and POD #2 was dropped off. POD #2 was ordered yesterday after the movers told us that all our stuff wouldn’t fit in the first one. The exchange of PODs was BIG excitement for all the kiddos on the street. By tonight, 99% of our stuff will be locked away in the storage units. This has been the craziest process for the entire family, but we’re staying sane by focusing on our vacation with the Ballew Family & our new home when we return next Thursday.

Boys on W Cottage Street

cc
cc
Scott & I took some pictures of the boys this morning (prior to the closing on the Durness Way house...as of this afternoon, it's officially ours) at the W Cottage house. While we're excited for our new house, we never want to the boys to forget their 1st home!

Bye, Bye W Cottage Street

Today we signed away ownership of 723 W Cottage Street. We're really going to miss this place!!!!

Circus Fun

cc
cc
Saturday morning we met the Michels Family at the circus. The older siblings (Sam & Kate) were in awe of the show. They sat very quietly most of the time and only made the smallest noise when they needed something to eat (Kate, would you like some more cotton candy & popcorn). The younger siblings (Ben & Brinklee) didn’t have it so easy. They tried their best to be cooperative but spent most of the time squirming on their parents’ laps, having pacifiers and food shoved in their mouths while watching the TV screens flash different color lights. You’ve got to love the circus!

Good Old Galveston

cc
cc
This morning we met Grandma & Paw Paw in Galveston. It was Ben's first trip to the beach!
c
It was such a quick trip down there and the boys had such a great time that I vote that we do it more often. The beaches were surprisingly clean and uncrowded during the morning hours.
c
Sam spent most of his time floating on his plane with Grandma in the ocean…while Ben hung out with Paw Paw under the umbrella eating sand. Let’s do it again very soon!

Howdy Partner

cc
cc
Sam rarely sleeps during naptime anymore…but he’s still required to be in his room for 2 hours during the afternoon (we all need the break). Most days he pulls out every toy in his closet. Today there was a lot of running around but I was trying to pack so I didn’t go to investigate the noise. When I opened his door to let him out, he comes galloping out yelling, “Howdy Partner”. Howdy, Sam!

The Latest Crawling Style

Ben stopped “army” crawling last week and started to “normal” crawl. Today he decided that “normal” crawling wasn’t fun and scoots all over the house on his hands & feet without ever letting his knees hit the ground. I personally don’t blame him because his poor knees are black & blue from crawling around so much.

Come and Get Me

Sam loves to ride all over the house on Ben’s truck while Ben chases slowly behind him. They could do this all day.

Blueberry Creamery

cc
Today we ventured to the Blue Bell Creamery (or Blueberry Creamery as Sam keeps calling it) in Brenham, Texas. We took the tour of the Factory and ate our free scoop of ice cream at the end. Sam was especially excited because they were making Rocky Road (Mimi’s favorite) and Push Pops (Sam’s personal favorite) during this trip. What a great way to spend a hot summer day.

Our Little Puppy

cc
cc
We get asked by strangers all the time if Sadie’s a puppy. She’s almost 7 years old and hasn’t calmed down a bit. I had to include these pictures of Sadie lying on the floor this afternoon. With 2 crazy boys that are always on the move, her resting time is getting less and less. You can just see the sleep deprivation in her eyes.

Let the Packing Begin

cc

The packing of 723 W Cottage Street officially began over the holiday weekend. It’s a sad, sad time for the Sheehan Family. We’re going to miss this old (and little) house!

Fishing Shirts for Kids...Seriously?

cc
cc
On Saturday we took a trip to Academy to get some pool gear. At the end of the trip Scott & Sam went off to see if they could find an Astros shirt in the kids clothing section. All of a sudden I hear a very loud squeal and Sam’s running up to me holding a fishing shirt that matches one that Scott already has. He was SO excited (and so was Scott) that I had to bite my tongue and act excited about his new find. When we got home we immediately had wash it so it would be ready for the next day. The below pictures are, of course, from the next day. I think I laughed the entire day from 1.) the fact that Scott had to wear his fishing shirt, too (Scott you can never, ever make fun of people that wear matching outfits now) –and- 2.) just how dang excited Sam was that he had a fishing shirt “just like Dad”. Too cute!

Dad, You're a Genius

cc
cc
This morning we had a special breakfast together as a family. As we were sitting around the table Sam completely unprovoked looks at Scott and says, “Dad, You Are a Genius”. Sam says the funniest, sweetest, most ridiculous things each and every day…but this is one I thought we needed to put in ink. I’m sure there will come a time when he doesn’t think so highly of his parents. When that day comes, we’ll make sure to pull out this blog posting and remind him how cool (and smart when it comes to Scott) he once thought we were. Sam, we love you!

Happy July 4th

cc

Unfortunately, the firework show in Houston didn’t start until 9:30pm. So, we decided against taking the boys to see it. Instead we let Sam stay up late and we barbequed in the backyard (with a minor fire on the grill…but we won’t go into detail about that). Sam got into bed at 9pm and as soon as we heard the boom from the firework show downtown, we grabbed him out of bed and watched the show on our front porch. Next year we promise to take the boys to see the fireworks up close and personal, but tonight we had a wonderful night hanging out in the Heights.

Roger That!

Ben's New Toy

cc
cc
99% of Ben’s toys & clothes are hand me downs. He doesn’t know any better and frankly doesn’t care. This morning Scott bought him a brand new push toy. While Scott was putting it together, Ben discovered the pulls on the curtains. So instead of loving his special toy, he ignored it. Luckily (and not surprisingly) Sam was waiting patiently in the wings to swoop in and play with that new toy.

Date Night with Grace & Ben
