Turning 4 is Sometimes Hard To Do!

cc

Sam got to the downside of turning 4 today…the doctor appointment. We’ve heard from friends that it was going to be tough…but I (and Sam) just wasn’t prepared for how a 4-year-old would react to FIVE shots. He passed the blood pressure, hearing & sight tests with flying colors but when it came time for the shots…well he just couldn’t hold it in anymore. I had one hand on Ben so he wouldn’t get into the trash that was so nicely put in his line of sight…and the other hand & my entire body on Sam trying to hold him down. It was just so sad. Luckily, the nurse had a stack of Spiderman stickers waiting for him and I promised Lupe Tortilla as lunch. So normalcy & order has returned for the time being. All I know is that Scott will be at the front of the sub line to take Ben when his 4-year-old check-up rolls around.

Here are sweet Sam’s stats:

Height – 40 ½”
Weight – 39 lbs

The very famous superhero capes

cc

I had to laugh that each time I turned around at the party, another one of our friends was trying to recruit my parents to make superhero capes for their child’s next birthday party. They held strong, but that shows you how much they were loved by all the kiddos. Sam & Ben are still running around with their personalized capes. Super Sam & Super Ben to the RESCUE!

4th Birthday + Wonderwild = LOTS of fun!

Sam’s two week long Birthday celebration FINALLY came to a close on Saturday at Wonderwild in the Heights. He was surrounded by many loves ones & 20 rowdy friends. As with big events these days, I failed in the photo department but the kids (and adults) loved riding the trains, jumping on the “trampoline”, sliding down the big slide, eating pizza & cake…but most importantly they LOVED the amazing masks and capes that my parents have been slaving over for the past month. A thousand thank yous could never be enough for these truly wonderful party favors. Thank you! Now everyone please say a prayer that Sam doesn’t go into a deep depression now that the celebrations have finally come to a close!

A ball, bat & box

Ben is completely obsessed with any sporting activity that involves a ball & bat. All his indoor balls are kept inside a milk crate. On rainy days, he insists on getting inside the crate with all his balls and throwing them out one by one for Sam & I to catch.

Ben & Maggie have officially graduated from their 1st Little Gym class. They love doing front rolls, running under the parachute & walking on the balance beam.

Hopscotch Insanity

Sam and I have had a few hopscotch battles over the past few days. He’s pretty good hoping back and forth from 1 to 2 feet. Though the best part is Ben’s part of the game…he steals every marker that Sam tosses. I guess he felt left out and needed a role in the game.

Scoot Scoot Scootin Away!

Ben got a ton of new toys for Christmas and honestly he just wants a mini version of everything Sam has. His latest obsession is racing Sam on his scooter. Go boys go!

Birthday Chapel

cc
Sam’s birthday celebration just won’t end! Today we celebrated his birthday at St. Luke’s. He received a blessing from Ms. Weymouth & Ms. Ellerbrock and then all the students sang Happy Birthday to him (and the other birthday kids for the week).

When I picked him up from school this afternoon, the first he said was “Thank you Mom & Benjamin for coming to my birthday chapel this morning…I loved seeing you sitting there”. I actually teared up! It really, really touched me that he’s old enough to appreciate these experiences together.

We were lucky enough to ring in the New Year with some great friends. The kids played (Sam & Kate got to stay up late to watch Monsters vs Aliens and Tinkerbell..and proceeded to eat LOTS of popcorn) while David grilled some delicious turkey burgers (thanks Oprah & Ashley). We all drank festive drinks throughout the night and had lots & lots of laughs. Thanks David, Ashley, Kate & Brinklee…let’s do it again next year!!!

Happy 4th Birthday, Sam!

Sam had a great 4th birthday. He had pancakes for breakfast, opened tons of presents (dinosaurs & superheroes), ate Mexican food for lunch, was sung a very loud rendition of Happy Birthday by many extended family members, played tons with Ben, Van & Bella, watched his favorite movies on the drive to and from Palestine & ended the night by having dinner (Mexican food…again) with his girlfriends Caroline & Amelia. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!!!
