Sledding on the Golf Course

We heard a rumor after the ice storm earlier in the week that the golf course near our house had some amazing hills for sledding. After lunch we stopped by Hole #5 to try it out. It was a blast. We brought boogie boards, the top to the sandbox and the sleds the Sheehan's gave us last year. We sled until every single person was wet, frozen and slightly injured. Oh what fun!

SNOW DAY!

If you are going to have a snow day, THIS is how it should be done.

At 9am when we left the house to take Grace & Graham to school, the snow had just started to fall.

By 11am, school had been cancelled and it was time to play in the wonderful snow!

Both Sadie & Minnie think the snow is fabulous.

A snow day wouldn't be complete without a massive snowball fight.

Seven hours later and the snow is still coming down. It's a true Winter Wonderland.

Minnie is in the House!

Iceman & Charades

After a long day spent indoors, we decided to venture outside once more while the sky still provided light. With a little help from the boys, Grace and I built our very own iceman (grape eyes, carrot nose & tree branch arms). Grace was very, very proud of our creation.

We ended the day by teaching the kids how to play charades. They thought it was a blast, and Scott & I had some great laughs.

Snow Day

The kids were so excited when we told them last night that school was cancelled for today.  The sleet began around 8pm and with temperatures below freezing, we woke up to a winter wonderland (year 3). We bundled up & headed outside with our plastic sleds & boogie boards. After an hour, everyone was frozen. So we came inside and enjoyed some large mugs of hot chocolate. Such a fun snow day!

My Valentines!

Valentine's Day has changed a lot in the 18 years since Scott and I first met each other. Today was all about being together as a family and it was perfect. I feel so blessed to have not one but FIVE Valentines today. They each make me so happy in their unique & special way. Happy Valentine's Day!

Jump Rope for Heart - Round Two

The twins and I participated in round 2 of Jump Rope for Heart with Sam's class. Sam was the king of jumping rope backwards. And after being there twice, Grace & Graham thought they ruled the Rockenbaugh Gymnasium. What a great event!

Costume Day at Dana's Dance Studio

Recital dance costumes arrived at Grace's dance studio today. The girls loved trying on their burgundy & gold tutus in class today. They looked adorable! The dance recital isn't until June so I better find a great hiding spot because Grace is already begging to wear it again!

Jump Rope for Heart

Ben's class kicked off Jump Rope for Heart at Rockenbaugh this morning. Ben was the best jumper in his class (see video below for evidence). The twins and I were very impressed! After their jump rope competition & performance, the kids enjoyed rock climbing and some fun activities outside. What a great way to learn about keeping your heart healthy on a daily basis!

Lacrosse Kick-Off

After 44 days with a sick child in the house, we are almost all back to 100% (knock on wood). What better way to celebrate this occasion than by spending the day outside playing lacrosse, jumping in bounce houses, winning lots of treats at the cake walk (hence the matching sunglasses) and seeing how fast we can throw a ball with a lacrosse stick. Ben even had the fastest shot (34 mph) for a kindergartener & tied with one of his 1st grade buddies, Emerson, for the fastest K/1st shot. Sam broke 50 mph & the twins each clocked in at 12 mph. Even Scott gave it a try & got close to getting up to a high school boys fastest shot with 70 mph. Wow. We all enjoyed a wonderful day with family.

100th Day of School

Being in kindergarten is such a blast! Today was the 100th day of school at Rockenbaugh. The kindergarteners dressed as 100 year old men & women and paraded through the school. They all looked so adorable!
